Focus on Realty Management System Feature: Create a Budget for the New Year!


Do you know where you are headed? Do you have a plan for growth or expansion in the upcoming year? Are you anticipating a slow down? Then it is time to create a budget!

To set up a budget in the Realty Management System, go into option F.7 and first click on “Set Year End”. You'll then go into each account by choosing the budget tab and either – a) typing on each month line the amount to be budgeted per month, b) choose roll over actual (if you've been on the program for more than a year) and select the percentage increase you wish to apply to the budget or c) click on the allocate button if the budgeted amount for the year is a flat amount to be evenly spread over a 12 month period.

If you have already created a budget in MS Excel you can import the budget by converting the file to a .CSV format (Comma Separated Value) and choosing the Import Budget option (Please note: the format of the .CSV file is Account, Date, Amount, Office (if applicable), e.g.. “40100, 01/31/2007,100.12,1” (quotes are optional).

Once your budget is complete you can go to option F.4.1 to run an Actual to Budget comparison. Be sure to choose the variance you wish to display, either horizontal or vertical.
