Control Dates
Control Dates are used to ensure that accounting posting entries are kept within a pre-determined date range. If your starting control date is more than one year in the past, upon logging into the program, you will see a Control Date Warning. This is prompting you to update your Control Start Date so that postings aren't inadvertently made in a closed period.

Upon receiving the following warning your options are to click Yes and you will be directed to the Company Profile to update your control dates. If you click No, the system will simply close the warning window, and it will re-appear each time you log into the program.

If you choose to update your control dates, enter the desired starting and ending dates, outside of which the system will not allow any entries involving posting to the general ledger.

You can also setup Control Dates to be based upon Security Access groups (E.2). Simply change the Set by Security Group field to Yes in the Company Profile (E.1.1.Misc1). Once you change the field to Yes, you can click on the Control Dates button and see the Security Group List. Highlight each security group you want to edit, and enter their control dates.

This will allow you to set one set of control dates for the current period for your administrators, and perhaps another set of control dates for your accountants (ie. prior year when they are working on year end).
