I remember watching A Christmas Carol as a child and thinking, ‘How could anyone be that selfish?’ As the years go by, come Christmas time, I find myself getting lost in things that I’ve convinced myself are important. Getting out the Christmas decorations. Jamming Christmas parties into my schedule. Stressing about deciding on what junk I should buy and put under the Christmas tree this year.

Has the advent of low-cost, retail available accounting software impacted small businesses? You bet it has. The dawn of accounting solutions packages like QuickBooks, Sage and other off the shelf packages has given the power to everybody to create custom solutions based on their business’ needs. Though there are many advantages to these packages, such as low cost and customizability, there are many problems as well.

If you’ve ever worked in the real estate industry then you know that agents have an aversion to using new technology (which is funny because they’re the ones calling out for new technology in the first place!). Every year brokerages, boards, associations, and franchises across North America throw hundreds of thousands of dollars into their tech in a fruitless effort to make their agents happy. Meanwhile, the tools collect dust because agents do things their way.

There are many benefits to hosting webinars and meetings online. They allow people located far distances from each other to connect and share ideas. They conveniently allow us stay in our own offices and desks during the work day. They don’t require expensive software or technology to use. They allow for more attendees than traditional meetings and training sessions.
