Offering Tech for Your Agents How to Boost Adoption

When you’re running a brokerage, there are a few things that go hand-in-hand with introducing new technology. All you want is for your agents to pick it up easily—but what you get?

Well, that might be more along the lines of protest, disinterest, and a bad case of the grumblies.

Agent adoption can be a big issue, especially if your agents already have a different tool they like using on their own. So if you’re looking to bring a new tool into the mix, here are some tips to make the transition as easy and successful as possible!

Teach by example.

When you and your administrative team step up and actively buy into the tech you introduce, you prove to your agents that you believe in it—which has a huge effect on whether they buy into it, too.

The best way to demonstrate your confidence in your tech?

Make sure you know exactly what it can do for your team. This will make it a lot easier when it comes time to explain the value to them—and that time will come. As long as they can see that you picked your tech to help them too, they’ll be a lot more likely to go along with it.

Make it accessible.

If you’re at all concerned about your agents not wanting to adopt tech, you’re going to want to make sure it’s accessible for them. Look for a solution that comes with thorough onboarding, training, and continued support.

This will make it easier for both your existing agents and for any future ones to learn the system in a speedy and low-stress fashion. It’ll also tackle the potential protest of not knowing how to use that tool!

Try new things—but not too often.

Here at Lone Wolf, we’re firm believers in trying new things and improving processes. That said, we know that trying new tools and technology too often can cause a little something we call “tech fatigue.”

Minimizing the number of times your agents have to learn new technology can help encourage them to actively adopt the ones you do pick, because they won’t go in with the attitude that they’re just going to have to change in a few months, anyway.

The best way to avoid tech fatigue?

Do your research beforehand, and try not to get caught up in the “shiny penny” attitude that’s all too common nowadays. Dig deep and make sure that the tools you pick meet all your needs before you introduce them to the team.

Make the most of your early adopters.

Chances are, you’ll get some agents who are more flexible on change than others. That’s just the way it is. So if your persuasion tactics aren’t getting anywhere, it may be time to let your agents do the persuading for you.

Look for agents who have been receptive to the change, and ask them to share their experiences and their successes with the new tool with fellow agents. They’ll love the recognition, and any late bloomers will start to feel the FOMO—the fear of missing out!
